The time limit for a dance may not be exceeded under any circumstances. Timing will commence on the first note or sound played and a bell may be sounded if the competitor over-runs the time stated in the syllabus. Competitors must leave the stage as soon as the bell is sounded. A competitor who has been rung-off for exceeding the time limit will automatically forfeit a first place mark. Competitors in classes up to and including 9 and 10 years may be permitted to re-start a dance once only.

Competitors in duet and trio classes may only enter the classes ONCE.

In Group classes, teaches may enter as many groups as they wish provided that no competitor performs more than TWICE in any one group class.

A minimum of FIVE dances constitute a group.

Only artificial flowers may be used on stage. Any competitor using natural flowers will be disqualified.

the Committee also have the power to combine classes when entry numbers are small and to divide a class when entries total more than 30. The committee also have the power to make any other regulations or to interpret or qualify any of these rules as occasion may arise.

The Bristol Dance Eisteddfod does not accept liability for the infringement of copyright, recording or performing rights arising out of any competitor's accompaniment or performance.

The use of FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY and VIDEO during ANY performance is STRICTLY PROHIBITED. Competitors must however be prepared to perform before camera of the media or agents of the Bristol dance Eisteddfod.

The Adjudicator's decision is final. No discussion or correspondence concerning such decisions will be allowed. Communication with the Adjudicator is absolutely prohibited and the Committee may disqualify a competitor for any breach of this rule.

The stage and stage wings are out of bounds to all except authorised persons and competitors about to perform. Competitors who have completed their dance must leave the area and only return to the stage wings three numbers before the end of the class. Authorised persons include ONE teacher or assistant from each school, also ONE older competitor for the sole purpose of assisting younger competitors with wardrobe and / or properties. Competitors may only enter the stage and stage wings from stage right. All props must be removed from the wings by the next official break.

Pointe work is not permitted for any competitor under 13 years of age on 1st January 2010. Gymnastic dance is permitted provided that it is combined with a dance technique.

The upper age limit for competitors in the Bristol Dance Eisteddfod is 21 years of age on 1st January 2010.

No dancer aged 16 years or over may compete in the Bristol Dance Eisteddfod if they are presently receiving or have received full time vocational dance training within the last three years.

TAP - Fixed tap (single sound) only may be used.

TAPES, CDs & MINI DISCS - Recordings on a cassette tape, mini disc or CD must have nothing else but a single recording at the beginning. Tapes and discs must be clearly marked with the NAME, CLASS NUMBER and ENTRY NUMBER as shown against the competitor's name in the Official Programme. All tapes and discs must be pre-set and placed in the appropriate tray on the TAPE TABLE in the foyer for at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the class. In song and dance classes pre-recorded vocal is not permitted.

No entry fees will be refunded and the Committee reserves the right to refuse any entry.

MEDALS:
Up to 4 competitors - Gold medal ONLY
5 to 9 competitors - Gold and silver
10 and over competitors - Gold, silver and bronze
The number of competitors in each class will be taken as from the Official Programme. No additional competitors will be included.
